Siljanovska-Davkova: Christmas a call to awaken humanity, goodness, and hope within us
- When today we constantly hear the words “Christ is born. Truly, He is born.” This is not just a simple statement. It is a profound reminder – for ourselves, for our loved ones, for the country, for Christians – that these words carry deep weight and great meaning. They call us to remember what they signify: the readiness, ability, and the desire to awaken the humanity within us, and humanity is always bound to light, to goodness, to hope – or, perhaps, put even better, to awaken the divine within us, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova told journalists on Wednesday after attending the Christmas liturgy at Skopje’s St. Clement of Ohrid church.

Skopje, 7 January 2026 (MIA) – When today we constantly hear the words “Christ is born.

“That is why, every year, as the Archbishop has said, on this day we take a look within ourselves, we reflect and ask whether we truly act with faith and with trust in what is good, what is beautiful, or, if you will, in the light. That is why this is a great day. It seems to me that the Archbishop’s words – that in these troubled times, even when we cannot see something, we must still believe in it – remind us once again of goodness, of light, of hope, of the humanity within us. Today we are reminded of the God-man, Jesus Christ, who is not only among us today but is always with us, to remind us that His path is our true path,” Siljanovska-Davkova said.
