Siljanovska Davkova: War in Ukraine not Ukrainian but European and global issue

Skopje, 16 June 2024 (MIA) - Ahead of the plenary session of the Ukraine Peace Summit in Switzerland's Burgenstock, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said Sunday that one of the most important messages is that the war in Ukraine should not be treated as a Ukrainian issue but one of Europe and the world.

"We agreed that dialogue is healthy, that the peace conference has reached unique positions. We most often refer to the UN Charter and and we all urge for peace solutions," said President Siljanovska Davkova.

The President added that she also took part at a panel on food security.

"This concerns us all and we should all contribute to reaching a just solution for Ukraine, a solution that guarantees permanent peace, I call it Kant's perpetual peace. I believe it is high time, instead of saying that we should never again face war, to remind ourselves of the notorious fact that the European community came about as a peace project and that the European Union and all countries worldwide are obligated to preserve peace," said Siljanovska Davkova.

At the summit sidelines, Siljanovska Davkova briefly met with Swiss Confederation President Viola Amherd, United States Vice-President Kamala Harris, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and other world leaders, the President's Office said in a press release.
