Siljanovska Davkova: People drowned in corruption and crime cannot be reformers

Kichevo, 11 April 2024 (MIA) - Compromise should always be measured through the prism of our national interests. Macedonia is a small country but you will be respected if you respect yourself. Self-respect is earned through effort and knowledge, said VMRO-DPMNE presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska in Kichevo on Thursday.

"You should not go abroad unless you have consensus on the most important issues. And what is most important - you should not change your position under pressure, it is not a compromise if you accept everything they put on the table," said Siljanovska Davkova.

She referred to the message from the SDSM presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski, "who said I am an excellent professor and a prime intellectual, and that he would nominate me for a constitutional judge once elected".

"On the other hand, I cannot nominate him to serve as constitutional judge, because my criteria are rather high," said Siljanovska Davkova.

She also commented on the Freedom House report and Macedonia's backtracking in democracy, corruption and crime.

"Just imagine, those in the highest echelons of power, the corrupt ones, the criminals, will now reform Macedonia. Those drowned in corruption and crime cannot be reformers. We are the reformers, they will be the clients. It is high time these clients answer before an independent judiciary, of course," said Siljanovska Davkova.

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski urged for mass support for Siljanovska Davkova, saying she has been loyal to her principles and is one of the best experts and connoisseurs of constitutional law and political system.

"Macedonia needs a president not DUI's servant," said Mickoski.
