Siljanovska Davkova: Let us unite in common struggle for a prosperous European state and a just Macedonian society

Skopje, 11 October 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova extended her congratulations to the citizens on the occasion of the National Uprising Day – October 11.

“October 11 is the milestone that shaped our present and future, the day when we courageously and resolutely joined the antifascist coalition of freedom-loving and justice-seeking nations, thus choosing the right side in the greatest war in human history, firmly committed to defeating the occupiers and fighting for a free national state,” Siljanovska Davkova said in a message.

"On this day," Siljanovska Davkova said in her message, "we honorably and proudly pay tribute to the Macedonian partisans who rose in 1941 and began the struggle for national liberation."

“Grateful for the heroes and their superhuman sacrifices, we have a responsibility not only to them but also to our children and grandchildren to continue building the Macedonian state according to the ideals they left us as a legacy, because safeguarding the homeland is as important as the act of liberating it. Each generation faces new challenges. In the past 33 years, we have fought for recognition of our independence and to secure a deserved place in the European family and international organizations, to maintain peace and foster democracy. The fight for our rights, as well as for the rule of law, continues,” Siljanovska Davkova said.

Let me remind you: our ancestors united and achieved what they could not accomplish separately - a free Macedonian state.

“I urge you to overcome our divisions and unite in the common struggle for a prosperous European state and a just Macedonian society. Happy October 11,” President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said.
