Siljanovska Davkova: Legitimacy comes from citizens and it belongs to them

Siljanovska Davkova: Legitimacy comes from citizens and it belongs to them

Tetovo, 12 April 2024 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska Davkova told a rally in Tetovo on Friday that the country's transition has been an endless marathon, saying European standards should be in the focus.

"Reports show these authorities only put us into cyclic motion of a hybrid regime, a system of elections that are not always fair and democratic, and weak institutions, where the most powerful are too powerful. Every power threatens to corrupt, absolute power corrupts those on the top of institutions. In addition, those in key positions are people without dignity, without authority, and are surrounded by similar people. That is why corruption and crime are contagious, it is systemic," said Siljanovska Davkova.

She said rule of law, human rights and liberties will make the country European, a state favorable for a proper liberal economy.

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski urged (President Stevo) Pendarovski to say what plans he had made with (Deputy PM) Artan Grubi, (SDSM leader and former PM) Dimitar Kovachevski and (DUI leader) Ali Ahmeti over the Criminal Code amendments.

"What was the goal? Was it to smuggle the constitutional amendments and accept the Bulgarian dictate, at the same time giving amnesty to former politicians that aim to harm VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition?" asked Mickoski.

List principal in the sixth electoral district Dafina Stojanoska said Macedonia needs a president such as professor Siljanovska Davkova, whom she urged to show no mercy to injustice.

"Your charisma and arguments have been followed by many global politicians and experts. These are the qualities that Macedonia needs. Your full commitment to the law is what Macedonia needs. Only you can take us out of the chaos they have taken us into. You have the arguments, you have the programme, you have the strong will for change and are committed to implement them," noted Stojanoska.
