Skopje, 22 April 2024 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE’s presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, expressed confidence Monday evening that even SDSM MPs, people from DUI, and other parties, as well as many undecided voters, will vote for her. In an interview with Kanal 5 TV, Siljanovska Davkova regarding the outcome of the second round of elections said that a repeat of 1999 cannot happen again because the circumstances are different.
“The mood among Macedonian voters is different. Everyone has a threshold of patience, and some of our citizens cannot recognize social democracy in this government. I don't think they will vote for them. I am convinced that even some members of SDSM, some people from DUI, and other parties, as well as many undecided voters, will vote for me,” Siljanovska Davkova said.
VMRO-DPMNE’s presidential candidate reiterates that even with such a negotiating framework, solutions are possible, and that if she becomes president, she will first talk to the neighbors and address regional issues, as well as other circumstances. According to her, the EU has no policy for the Western Balkans.
“Once our elections are over, once the elections in the EU and Bulgaria are over - I stated that my priority is to have discussions with our neighbors. Let the commissions continue their discussions, but let's provide an interpretation of the Friendship and Good Neighborliness Agreement through the lens of the preamble, indicating that issues related to identity, culture, and history should not serve as grounds for a veto, but only the Copenhagen criteria. Additionally, I believe that the EU should uphold its core values and principles. They actually enjoy judicial protection; without it, the EU cannot be an inspiring democratic community,” Siljanovska Davkova said.
