Shekerinska: Encouraging that Bulgaria's potential new gov’t sees need for new approach
Skopje, 15 November 2021 (MIA) – It’s encouraging that Bulgaria’s potential new government sees the need for a new approach. We have the spirit of good neighborliness, openness and desire to find solutions and move forward. If they share even half that sentiment, we might see a shift. A new approach will benefit both sides, Defence Minister Radmila Shekerinska said on Monday after the final conference of the group for military integration of North Macedonia in NATO. She added that recent developments in Bulgaria are encouraging, noting that by blocking us and Albania, Bulgaria is also blocking itself. “Statements seem encouraging, but they’re yet to become reality. We support this call for new type of dialogue during which neighbors won’t try to block each other, but find ways to promote cooperation,” Minister Shekerinska said. She underlined that more energy should be put in resolving such issues as the fact that the Sofia-Skopje flight has a layover in Vienna, instead of the issues that have consumed our bilateral cooperation for almost a year.
