Skopje, 19 October 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri met Thursday with several  U.S Congressmen in Washington for talks on strengthening the cooperation between North Macedonia and the United States in the field of education.

The Minister stressed that the media literacy project is one of the most important projects in the field of education in the country, as it is important to learn how to recognize fake news, select and use only fact-checked ones, the Ministry of Education said in a press release.

"The United States is our strategic partner and has so far made a great contribution to the overall effort to improve the quality of education in North Macedonia. In addition, the U.S. provides many opportunities for our students and professors to gain experience in schools and universities here. In this context, I would especially like to highlight the Fulbright and YES programs, which help increase mobility for young people and offer scholarships for studies in America," Shaqiri said.

The meeting is part of Minister Shaqiri's agenda, who is on a four-day visit to the United States at the invitation of several U.S. politicians. The visit will be concluded with a lecture at a renowned university in Texas, the press release adds. ssh/nn/
