Skopje, 17 January 2024 (MIA) — Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri expects Parliament to quickly pass the new Law on Secondary Education and Law on Vocational Education and Training the government adopted Tuesday at the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Science.

According to Minister Shaqiri in a social media post, the new Law on Secondary Education will promote development of key competencies in young people, especially digital skills, which would help them in their further education and employment.

"For the first time, we are introducing career counseling, a career counselor, and a coordinator for practical education," he wrote, adding that the new legislation also covers student organization and participation in decision-making processes.

The new Law on Vocational Education and Training, he noted, would improve on the concept of dual education.

"The laws have been forwarded to the Parliament and I expect a quick adoption considering they were developed in an inclusive process with all stakeholders participating," the education minister wrote. mr/
