Shahpaska: Pensions will continue to rise

Shahpaska: Pensions will continue to rise
Skopje, 19 July 2021 (MIA) – The latest pension increase caused strong public reaction, but we’re aware that it has been small and insufficient. Making promises amid a global pandemic is bad, but I assure you that this government will respect the law. The pension fund is stable and pensions will continue to rise, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jagoda Shahpaska said on Monday evening. She reiterated that pensioners regularly receive pensions and in line with the law, twice a year, pensions rise in accordance with the increase of living costs. “Yes, we’re aware that the increase is small, but pensions will continue to rise in the next few months. I’ll be thrilled if I could up pensions by more than 1.2%. Amid a pandemic the government wants to guarantee respect for the law and ensure a consistency that pensioners can count on. They receive their pensions regularly and ahead of time,” Shahpaska told TV Sitel. The Minister added that pensions rose by 1.2% in January and July, which amounts to Mden 300 more per month.
