Serbia’s Vučić pays two-day visit to Skopje to attend Economic Forum for Regional Cooperation
Belgrade, 28 July 2021 (MIA) – Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is visiting Wednesday and Thursday the capital Skopje, where he is set to meet with North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who will be also visiting Skopje to be part of so called “mini-Schengen” regional cooperation initiative.
While in Skopje, President Vučić alongside PMs Zaev and Rama will take part in the Economic Forum for Regional Cooperation, organized by the chambers of commerce of Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania.
Last week, Vučić revealed that the name of the “mini-Schengen” initiative will be changed at the regional economic forum in Skopje, that three agreements will be signed and that “fast lanes” will be introduced at border crossing allowing passengers from the region to travel faster.
“We’ve been working in three documents and I believe we’ll sign them in Skopje. They are key documents for trade, work permits and mutual support in case of fire, flooding and other disasters, which is in the interest of our people,” he stated.
The Skopje forum for regional cooperation of Western Balkans will bring together companies from Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as government officials and representatives of financial institutions, universities, international delegations and associations.
Some 300 to 400 participants are expected to have bilateral B2B meetings.
Most companies are from the industry of construction, food processing, energy, the automotive and textile industry, from tourism, ICT, telecommunications, transport and logistics, etc.
Almost 400 companies from the region will participate, which most of them (over 200) from Serbia, over 100 from North Macedonia, some 40 from Albania, and the rest from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Taiwan, Israel, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, France and Greece.
According to Serbia’s Development Agency, Vučić, Rama and Zaev will present a political and economic vision of an integrated region.
