Serbia exempts North Macedonia and Albania from milk export ban
Belgrade, 30 September 2022 (MIA) - The Serbian government at a session Friday passed several decisions, including a decision on extending a temporary ban for the export of milk and dairy products, MIA's Belgrade correspondent reports.
In a press release, the government said the measure aims at preventing possible damaging consequences on the economy and the citizens with the changes being made to alleviate the consequences and prevent a critical lack of milk and dairy products as a result of rising export and the need of the population for panic buying due to the world crisis.
North Macedonia and Albania, the two other members of the Open Balkan initiative in addition to Serbia, are exempted from the ban, said the Agriculture Ministry.
Also, the Serbian government extended the cap on oil, flour, bread and pork prices.
"Milk has been removed from the list of foodstuffs whose price is capped due to the situation in the market in the region and the pressure from surging prices, and also to provide uninterrupted milk supply in the Open Balkan countries," said the Serbian ministry.
