SEGA Coalition of Youth Organizations holds conference on promoting youth work, civic activism

Skopje, 15 December 2023 (MIA) — The SEGA Coalition of Youth Organizations held a conference on promoting youth work and civic activism through digital tools.

Participants included teachers and other professionals from primary and secondary schools as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations, youth workers and youth officials from municipalities and institutions.

The conference presented best practices, online and offline training methods, and guidebooks on encouraging youth participation and civic activism, which could be used in formal and informal educational settings, organizers said.

SEGA Coalition of Youth Organizations director Zoran Ilieski highlighted the importance of promoting civic activism in elementary and high schools.

He said the presentations included "three new methodologies intended for schools and civil society organizations that will provide youth workers with new, informal approaches for activating young people through digital youth participation."

Association for the Importance of Environmental Education in Modernizing the Educational Process president Aleksandra Petrovska said civil society organizations could make up for the slow response of the educational system to new technologies.

The conference was held as part of the EU Action project financed by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program Key Action 3 in partnership with organizations from Germany, Bulgaria, Greece and Belgium. mr/
