Security and intelligence officials hold meeting ahead of April 24 elections

Skopje, 23 April 2024 (MIA) – Caretaker Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski held Tuesday a meeting with additional Deputy Minister Mitko Bojmacaliev, Public Security Bureau Director Sasho Tasevski, National Security Agency head Zarko Miloshevski, Chief Public Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski, and officials of the public prosecutor’s offices in attendance ahead of the elections.

In a Facebook post, Toshkovski said that in the meeting he thanked for the successful cooperation of all the actors tasked with safe administration of the electoral process, noting that activities aimed at breaching the process weren’t reported.

The Public Security Bureau Director, added the post, presented information regarding the operation Presidential and Parliamentary Elections 2024, saying the operations HQ and the organizational units have taken all the necessary measures based on a prepared plan and haven’t noted any problems. 

Also, the National Security Agency has been taking coordinated measures to collect information on possible election-related irregularities so as to organize safe elections. 

The Chief Public Prosecutor and officials of the public prosecutor’s offices said a commission on election irregularities has been set up as part of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and on duty prosecutors on election day will closely monitor the process and report on events and activities in the interest of the public, according to Toshkovski’s Facebook post.
