Skopje, 24 April 2024 (MIA) - Voter turnout in the first round of the presidential elections is 44.18% by 5 pm, according to the State Election Commission’s data from 1788 polling stations.

Out of a total 899.977 voters at these polling stations, 397.612 have voted, SEC President Aleksandar Dashtevski said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The Commission’s current data shows the highest turnout by 5 pm was reported in the municipality of Novaci (67.19%), and the lowest in Plasnica (15.5%).

“Voting is proceeding peacefully in all polling stations,” Dashtevski said.

Turnout at the 2024 presidential elections by 5 pm is 9% higher than the turnout by 5 pm in the first round of the previous presidential elections in 2019.

Dashtevski also said that SEC has so far received 308 complaints about people’s voting rights, 75 of which have been approved and the voters were enabled to exercise their right to vote, 25 complaints have been found inadmissible, and 38 have been rejected. The remaining complaints are being processed.

Polling stations are set to close at 7 pm on Wednesday. The Commission will hold its next press conference shortly after, at 7:30 pm.
