SEC: 8.90% turnout in repeat mayoral elections by 1 PM

Skopje, 11 January 2026 (MIA) - A total of 11.217 citizens, or 8.90% of eligible voters, cast their ballot by 1 p.m. at Sunday’s repeat local elections held in four municipalities in the country, the State Election Commission (SEC) said.
SEC spokesperson Radica Todorovska-Aleksovska said Sunday voting is proceeding smoothly at all polling stations, except for polling station 0782 in the Gostivar village of Kjafa.
“In the municipality of Vrapchishte, 2.613 people voted, or 9.58 percent; in the municipality of Gostivar, 8.74 percent or 7.043 voters; in Mavrovo Rostushe, 10.03 percent or 1.061 people; while in the municipality of Centar Zhupa, 6.61 percent or 500 voters cast their ballots,” Todorovska-Aleksovska said.
