SDSM's Filipche calls on public prosecution to open investigation after PM's Corridor 8 allegations

Skopje, 1 September 2024 (MIA) – The public prosecution should open an investigation after [PM Hristijan] Mickoski’s statement involving Corridor 8 and the case involving the ex-culture minister should be investigated by the institutions as well, SDSM leader Venko Filipche said Sunday.

Answering reporters’ questions after the teachers’ protest, Filipche said he will meet with Bisera Kostadinovska – Stojchevska later in the day following VMRO-DPMNE’s allegation that she had spent taxpayers’ money for personal needs during official trips.

“I insist that the case be investigated by the institutions. Anyone who has done any wrongdoing should be held responsible. I want to condemn the fact that the government is using all the instruments of a party PR to deal with this issue,” he stated.

As regards Corridor 8, Filipche called  Mickoski’s allegations serious, which require the opening of an investigation.

“We insist that the public prosecutor’s office should open an investigation and the prime minister to reveal all the information. If this doesn’t happen, then in a way he will be considered an accomplice. I condemn this approach of using the podium to send PR messages for serious things. Amongst other things, it is a project with a loan from the EU,” stated Filipche, adding he had no information whether corruption regarding Corridor 8 was reported to the previous government.
