SDSM: Parliamentary majority won’t vote for snap elections
Skopje, 3 November 2021 (MIA) – The parliamentary majority won’t vote in favor of early elections, the ruling party SDSM said Wednesday in a statement after VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski called for snap parliamentary elections and the formation of a stable government.
SDSM accused Mickoski of lying to the people about allegedly having managed to muster a new majority.
Ruling coalition parties, it said, won more municipal council seats than the opposition. “SDSM and the ruling coalition won 664 municipal seats, which is more by 61 than the seats won by VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition,” said SDSM.
The parliamentary majority, noted the ruling party, is stable acting responsibly toward the future of the country and its people.
“The citizens need a government that delivers, especially during a pandemic and energy crisis. They need a government that is on the Euro-Atlantic course. SDSM and the coalition will not allow VMRO-DPMNE and Mickoski to abolish the Prespa Agreement and to ruin everything we had achieved together in the past four years,” said the statement.
