Sculpture by Macedonian artist to be showcased in Beijing art biennale
Shtip, 25 December 2021 (MIA) – “Longing”, a sculpture by Macedonian artist Nikola Smilkov, will be displayed at the International Art Biennale, held as part of the cultural activities of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. His work has been selected to be showcased at the prestigious 9th Beijing International Art Biennale, taking place from January 18 through March 1, 2022. “My sculpture ‘Longing’ was picked after several levels of selection. It is an honor and a pleasure to be part of the prestigious event. I was offered to leave my work to be part of the biennale’s permanent exhibition, which will be not only a representation of my work but also a representation of my country,” Smilkov told MIA. “Longing” is a bronze sculpture made this year. Smilkov, who is also a professor at university, earlier this year won the main prize in Budva out of 78 artists from 20 countries.
