Skopje, 22 October 2024 (MIA) - The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) has opened a case over the appointment of Bojan Hristovski as National Security Agency (NSA) director, after it received an anonymous submission claiming that he did not meet the job requirements.
"The claims refer to the non-compliance with the requirements for the director's appointment. More specifically, regarding the person's education, the security clearance and the affiliation to a political party. We will launch the procedure of obtaining documents from the NSA and the Government as the appointing authority. Upon receiving the documents and establishing the facts, we will take a decision at a public session," SCPC president Tatjana Dimitrovska told MIA.
Hristovski's appointment to the post has resulted in a public outcry, with the opposition SDSM saying the move introduced "dangerous partisanship in the agency and key security institutions".
