SARS-CoV-2 pandemic weekly: Two deaths, 102 new cases, 32 reinfections
- Both people died from the virus in Skopje, in hospital
Skopje, 8 February 2023 (MIA) — Of the total of 2,363 PCR and rapid antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2 done in the country’s laboratories Jan. 30 through Feb. 5, 102 came back positive, in 18 cities nationwide, for the airborne virus. Of them, 62 were in Skopje and 32 were confirmed reinfections, according to official figures in the latest weekly report released by the Institute of Public Health.
Health officials also reported two deaths from SARS-CoV-2. Both people died from the virus in Skopje, in hospital.
Officially, 154 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 are considered to be active cases. Over the past week, 94 people were declared ‘recovered’ from their acute symptoms.
Currently hospitalized for SARS-CoV-2 are 19 people. Of them, eight are on oxygen support, and no patients are currently on a life-support ventilator machine.
Since the start of the pandemic, the country’s laboratories have done a total of 2,221,215 coronavirus tests (of which 66.2% PCR tests and 33.8% rapid antigen tests), officially logging 346,635 SARS-CoV-2 cases, declaring 336,838 recoveries, and confirming 21,548 reinfections.
So far, 9,643 people have died in North Macedonia from SARS-CoV-2. Of them, “865 (9.0%) died in outpatient settings, and 8,778 (91.0%) died in hospital,” the report says. mr/
