Skopje, 29 June 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski told a Q&A session in Parliament on Wednesday that salaries would increase through a methodology for wage growth that would depend on the rise of living costs, the rise of the average wage and rise in workers’ performances.
PM Kovachevski said a law on salaries would be introduced, noting such legislation exists in Belgium, Kosovo and other countries.
“Such laws are painful because a large portion of the state administration does not want to accept because institutions have employees with above-average salaries that represent a burden for the state,” noted Kovachevski.
The PM has tasked the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, the Finance Minister and the Minister of Labor and Social Policy with drafting the bill, whereas the social dialogue with the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) to be carried out towards setting up the methodology that produces higher salaries.
