Skopje, 18 March 2022 (MIA) — Makedonski Telekom has taken Russia Today (RT) off air after the Government banned the Russian state-backed television channel in North Macedonia. According to Makedonski Telekom, RT’s broadcasts are banned in line with the decisions of the Government and of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services. All European Union member countries have banned RT and Sputnik in response to Russia’s invasion on Ukraine. The TV channels are widely seen as mouthpieces of Russian President Vladimir Putin and have been accused of spreading disinformation. mr/
