Russia's defence minister visits troops in Ukraine, ministry says
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu has visited Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine. The Defence Ministry in Moscow released a video on Sunday showing Shoigu stepping off a plane in dark green military fatigues and then conferring with military officials. The ministry said he awarded medals to individual soldiers for their efforts in the "special military operation," as the war against Ukraine is officially called in Russia. Exactly where in Ukraine Shoigu had travelled was not disclosed. Russia, which invaded the neighbouring country more than four months ago, is currently focusing its attacks on the eastern regions of Luhansk and Donetsk, although missile strikes hit Kiev on Sunday.
