“Right-wing nationalism has triumphed in North Macedonia. A heavy blow to its EU ambitions. The responsibility for this lies not only with the defeated social democratic government, but also with the EU states that Europeanized bilateral problems and blackmailed the country. If we continue the EU accession negotiations in such a technocratic manner, the young generation will depopulate the Western Balkans, and nationalism and EU scepticism will increase dramatically. Russia and China should be happy. We finally need a fresh start and no blockades,” Roth wrote in a post on social media platform X.
