Report: PSG still looking for new coach after end of Nagelsmann talks

Report: PSG still looking for new coach after end of Nagelsmann talks

Paris, 17 June 2023 (dpa/MIA) — Luis Enrique, Xabi Alonso and Thiago Motto are among candidates for the coaching job at French champions Paris Saint-Germain, sports paper L'Equipe said on Saturday.

Christophe Galtier is the current helmsman but it is widely believed that he will not be retained.

L'Equipe has said that talks with former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann have ended by mutual consent without an appointment.

Luis Enrique last coached the Spanish national team and has also had terms at Barcelona, Celta Vigo and Roma. He is said to be held in high esteem by PSG club leaders.

Former Spain international Alonso is said to have had some exchanges with PSG sports director Luis Campos but his German club Bayer Leverkusen appear not willing to let him go. Motta is a former long-time PSG player who is currently in charge at Italy's Bologna.

L'Equipe said that it was unlikely that a surprise candidate would join the list.
