Berlin, 16 December 2023 (dpa/MIA) – The Iranian authorities have executed an alleged spy for Israel's Mossad intelligence agency in the south of the country, the Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday.

The semi-official agency linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said the executed man had been accused of passing on confidential documents to foreign agencies, including Mossad.

The execution was carried out in Zahedan in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, the report said.

An attack on a police station in the province occurred in the early hours of Friday, in which 11 police officers were killed and seven others injured. Some of the attackers were also killed.

It was not clear whether the execution was linked to the attack.
