Skopje, 31 July 2023 (MIA) - The third regional workshop to support North Macedonia in its efforts to put an end to statelessness will take place in Ohrid on July 31-August 1.

The OSCE Mission to Skopje and the UNHCR Office in North Macedonia, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the Parliament's Committee on Political System and Community Relations will come together to complete the cycle of regional workshops for training of administrative staff for practical implementation of the changes to the Law on Civil Registry.

OSCE has said that the workshops are part of a larger effort to support the implementation of the new provisions in order to put an end to statelessness in the country by the end of 2023.

Head of the OSCE Mission Kilian Wahl has expressed his full support to these efforts, saying "it is an ambitious but doable objective".

The OSCE Mission has also made a video to better acquaint the public with the ways in which these people can get an identity and realize their constitutionally guaranteed rights for access to education, healthcare and social protection.
