Red Cross of North Macedonia to reform and reorganize, presents ‘Transformation 28’ development framework

Skopje, 17 October 2023 (MIA) – The Red Cross of North Macedonia presented Tuesday the “Transformation 28” development framework, a document which outlines the next steps in the reforms and reorganization of the society.

The Secretary General of the Macedonian Red Cross, Sait Saiti, said the document targets four areas: reorganization of the infrastructure, i.e., the organizational configuration of the Red Cross; cultural transformation; digitization; as well as a reorganization of the society’s programs.

“This is our attempt to predict our reorganization prospects after five years. It is ambitious, and we will promote a new offer to the institutions in terms of establishing new partnerships and an attempt to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions,” said Saiti.

The President of the Red Cross, Romel Velev, said the political and economic developments can lead to unexpected social changes, but pointed to climate change as the biggest challenge for the Red Cross.

“Perhaps the largest and most dramatic challenge ahead of us will be dealing with climate change, as a result of the degradation of the environment, the frequent disasters and their impact on human lives. All of these issues, the climate, economic, and social developments are expected to lead to potentially greater vulnerabilities of the population which will require greater engagement of the humanitarian sector, so we can respond to the modern challenges,” said Velev.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jovanka Trenchevska, addressed the event as well.

“Our support as a Government will always be strong, especially for organizations which place the well-being of others above everything, organizations which are always first when it comes to providing assistance by volunteers, which always involves empathy, understanding, acceptance, protection and support to all those who need help,” said Trenchevska.
