Rama to welcome Zaev and Vucic in Elbasan, Berisha to stage protest in Tirana
Tirana, 20 December 2021 (MIA) – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama will welcome Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for a meeting of regional initiative Open Balkan in Elbasan instead of capital Tirana on Monday.
Zaev and Vucic are scheduled to arrive in Elbasan at 6.30 p.m. followed by an official dinner an hour later.
The switch to Elbasan was made after Sali Berisha, former leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, and his followers said a protest would take place in Tirana at 4 p.m. today.
The official meeting within the Open Balkan initiative will be held in Tirana on Tuesday, also attended by European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, Regional Cooperation Council Secretary-General Majlinda Bregu, Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) Secretariat Director Emir Djikic and Transport Community Director Matej Zakonjsek.
