Skopje, 8 June 2022 (MIA) – After signing the agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas issued by higher education institutions at the Open Balkan Summit in Ohrid on Wednesday, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama stressed that the Open Balkan initiative was born as an idea of three people and today it belongs to all citizens, adding that it will be growing. Rama expressed gratitude that there are five leaders from the region attending the Open Balkan Summit in Ohrid on Wednesday, pointing out that it is an opportunity to establish dialogue and put it in the function of the common good. “Open Balkan belongs to the citizens, the countries, the future. Open Balkan will not stop and will not be shut down. This is a sure thing. Whoever opposes it is condemned to disappointment. Whoever restrains wastes precious time,” said Rama. Our children, he continued, deserve to have a space where all the riches, all the beauty and diversity of the region will be the basis for their well-being. “Fortunately, Open Balkan is neither the UN nor the EU. Open Balkan doesn’t have an accession process. We are integrating here,” Rama said. Rama reiterated that a working group will be set up for dealing with the crisis and finding concrete solutions. “The deep crisis will become even deeper not only on our continent but throughout the world. This will require resilience and commitment from all the countries. We’ll do everything in our power thanks to the cooperation between our countries. This is exceptionally important at this point,” Rama said. That is why, he stressed, the joint working group will get to work immediately. Rama said that the next summit, which will focus on energy security, will take place in Albania.
