Skopje, 1 December 2025 (MIA) — Train drivers went on strike at 1 pm, which has disrupted rail service, including the Monday trains to Bitola and to Gevgelija.
According to the Train Drivers Labor Union, rail service will resume only after management agrees to negotiate on the union's demands. The union is demanding inflation-adjusted pay, 10% higher pay for overtime and a bonus salary for those required to work more than 150 hours overtime.
"We have a total of 15 demands we submitted to the management team on Oct. 2. We received a response two months later, i.e., this Friday, Nov. 28, explaining that the company has been in a difficult financial situation and does not have enough funds to meet our demands," union leader Toni Dimovski told MIA.
Dimovski said some of their demands applied to all 603 employees and some only to the 46 train drivers and their 30 assistants. mr/
