Radev hands third mandate to form government to Bulgarian socialists
Sofia, 18 July 2022 (MIA) — President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev has given the Bulgarian Socialist Party the third exploratory mandate to form a new government after two previous attempts at forming a new government within the current 47th Parliament failed, MIA’s Sofia correspondent reports. President Radev handed the mandate to Georgi Svilenski, the BSP parliamentary group leader, together with BSP chairwoman and Deputy Prime Minister of Economy and Industry Korneliya Ninova as well as senior party members Atanas Zafirov and Irena Anastasova. According to a 1992 decision of the Bulgarian Constitutional Court, the prime minister-designate has seven days to present the new cabinet. However, there is no deadline on appointing the new PM candidate, which gives the BSP more time for coalition talks. mr/
