Public Prosecutor’s Office Disciplinary Committee proposes dismissal of Vilma Ruskovska

Skopje, 30 March 2023 (MIA) – The Disciplinary Committee at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of North Macedonia has determined that the former public prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption, Vilma Ruskovska, is responsible for a serious disciplinary violation of Article 91, Point 6 of the Law on the Public Prosecution Office and has decided to submit a proposal for her dismissal to the Council of Public Prosecutors. 

 

Following a disciplinary procedure against three public prosecutors and a review of a report from the prosecutor-reporter, the Disciplinary Committee adopted a decision by which: 

 

– It is determined that the former public prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption is responsible for a serious disciplinary violation of Article 91, Point 6 of the Law on the Public Prosecution Office and decided to submit a proposal for her dismissal to the Council of Public Prosecutors. 

– As a result of a serious disciplinary violation, a disciplinary measure will be imposed on one public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption, lowering the prosecutor’s monthly wage by 30% of the net sum for 6 months. 

– The Committee decided to absolve one public prosecutor from responsibility since it was not determined that she had committed a serious disciplinary violation of Article 91, Point 6 of the Law on the Public Prosecution Office. 

 

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the parties that are unsatisfied with the Committee’s Decision have the right to submit a complaint to the Council of Public Prosecutors.

In March 2023, prosecutors Vilma Ruskovska, Ivana Trajcheva and Elizabeta Josifoska, were questioned as part of a disciplinary procedure initiated against them, related to the search carried out at the Financial Police Office. 

 

The former chief of the Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption, Vilma Ruskovska, is suspended, and a parallel investigation is being led against the three prosecutors following a charge filed by the former head of the Financial Police Office, Arafat Muaremi. 

 

The Proposal to initiate a disciplinary procedure was submitted by state prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski, who also made the decision to suspend Ruskovska.
