Skopje, 2 October 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Public Administration Goran Minchev attended Wednesday a conference as part of a wider initiative for modernization of public administration across the Western Balkans, entitled "Conference on Innovative HRM for Public Administration of the Future," held under the auspices of the Slovenian Ministry for Public Administration and the Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA), in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The ministerial conference discussed the future of human resource management in public administration, focusing on strategic leadership, workforce planning, and future competencies for sustainable development, the Ministry of Public Administration said in a press release.

Minister Minchev highlighted the importance of the conference’s topics in shaping the future of public administration in the region.

"The pace of social, economic, and technological changes requires constant improvement and development of public administration. Public institutions are pillars of any functional society. Effective use of innovative tools, data, and technologies is no longer a luxury - but are essential for modern governance," Minchev noted.

He elaborated on key initiatives, development of digital application supported by ReSPA, which improves transparency and allows the ministry to better monitor and report on reform progress, as well as the Government's firm commitment to public administration reforms.

"We are fully committed to building an administration based on education, expertise, professionalism, ethics, and respect of the merit system. It’s a long process, and the path ahead is complicated but one we must take. We have to employ and promote qualified staff, those who work tirelessly and truly deserve it. It is the only way we will build public administration that can effectively serve citizens and promote development of the Republic of Macedonia," Minchev stated.

He also stressed the value of regional cooperation and importance of sharing experiences, strengthening efforts for creating more efficient, sustainable, and modern public administrations, and expressed hope for continuous fruitful discussions and future cooperation between participating countries. ssh/ik/
