Protests against French proposal enter sixth day
Skopje, 7 July 2022 (MIA) – Protest under slogan “Ultimatum – No Thank You” against the draft-negotiating framework proposed by the French EU Presidency began in front of the Government on Thursday. Protesters are then set to march to the Ministry of Justice and the Parliament. “There is no turning back. No giving up on Macedonia. Today we continue to walk in masses, peacefully and with pride in front of the Government, then to the Ministry of Justice, where we’ll say the Constitution is not to be revised to include Bulgarians, because the Constitution is not Wikipedia, and we will end the protest before the Parliament,” say the organizers. Ahead of the protest, Minister of Interior urged citizens and political parties that want to exercise their right to protest to do this in a way that demonstrates democratic capacity, with due respect of the provisions related to public gatherings, and respect of the police officers who is there to ensure peace and stability. Yesterday’s protest against the French proposal resulted in three injured police officers and five detained.
