Prosecutors request 48-hour detention order for person suspected of helping Ljupcho Palevski flee

Skopje, 5 December 2023 (MIA) — The Skopje Primary Public Prosecutor's Office has requested from the Criminal Court to order 48 hours in detention for a 46-year-old man from Skopje on suspicion of assisting Ljupcho Palevski, the prime suspect in the murders of Vanja Gjorchevska and Panche Zhezhovski, to escape to Turkey via Bulgaria and Serbia.

 

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the person is suspected of assisting a perpetrator after committing a crime under Article 365 Paragraph 3 in connection with Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

 

The suspect has been apprehended for questioning, the PPO said.

 

On Monday, the Ministry of Interior issued an international arrest warrant for Ljupcho Palevski and the Skopje Criminal Court issued an order for the Skopje Public Prosecutor's Office to conduct an investigation into suspicions that he had organized and perpetrated the murders of Vanja Gjorchevska and Panche Zhezhovski. mr/
