Prosecutor Pelivanov appointed as Ruskovska's temporary replacement after her suspension
Skopje, 29 August 2022 (MIA) - At Monday's session, North Macedonia's Council of Public Prosecutors appointed the prosecutor Trajche Pelivanov as temporary replacement of the head of the Public Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption, Vilma Ruskovska, who was recently suspended. Pelivanov was appointed because Ruskovska, who has been removed from office, cannot perform her duties in an ongoing procedure and because the organized crime prosecution shouldn't be left without a chief due to the seriousness of its work, the Council told MIA. If Ruskovska's suspension ends soon, she will get back to work, but if it doesn't by the end of her term in November, her successor will be appointed out of the newly-elected prosecutors, the Council's president Antonio Jolevski said, adding that Pelivanov is only a temporary replacement, not an acting head prosecutor. The Chief Public Prosecutor has decided to remove from office the head of the Public Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption, Vilma Ruskovska until a criminal procedure is under way after a report was filed by Arafat Muaremi involving a July 18 search of the offices of the Financial Police. Last week, the Council of Public Prosecutors dismissed Ruskovska's appeal as being groundless thus confirming her suspension from office.
