Prosecution amends indictment in ‘Talir’ case due to Criminal Code amendments

Skopje, 27 November 2023 (MIA) – At Monday’s hearing in the “Talir” case, Prosecutor Lenche Ristoska amended the indictment due to the amendments to the Criminal Code, as a result of which the statute of limitations is set to expire on the charge of “abuse of official position and authorization” against Mile Janakieski.

Judge Osman Shabani said the Court will come out with a statement regarding the statute of limitations expiring on the charge against defendant Mile Janakieski at the next hearing scheduled for November 11, and will then proceed with the main discussion in line with the provisions of the Law on Criminal Procedures.

Janakieski is also being charged for “money laundering and other income from crimes”.

Additionally, as part of the case looking into the financing of VMRO-DPMNE, former party leader and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski is being charged for “abuse of official position and authorization” and “money laundering and other income from crimes”. The same charges have also been filed against the former Secretary General of the Government, Kiril Bozhinovski.

Ilija Dimovski, Leko Ristoski, and VMRO-DPMNE, as a legal entity, are also being charged with “money laundering and other income from crimes”.
