Produce price freeze extended through May 31

Skopje, 28 April 2023 (MIA) — The price freeze on some kinds of produce will remain in force through May 31, the government decided at a session Friday at the proposal of the Ministry of Economy.

 

According to the Ministry of Economy in its proposal, market prices had not stabilized since the retail prices were first capped, so the government's price freeze needed to be extended by a month.

 

The freeze applies to several kinds of fruits and vegetables.

 

The government has set the highest retail price for lemons and oranges at Mden 60 per kilogram and for tangerines at Mden 65 per kilogram.

 

The onion price cap is Mden 70 per kilogram. Bananas cannot cost more than Mden 75 per kilogram, and beans, tomatoes and cucumbers cannot be priced over Mden 95 per kilogram.

 

Green peppers may be sold at prices up to Mden 100 per kilogram and lentils up to Mden 110 per kilogram. mr/
