Private companies obligated to social responsibility, says Economy Minister
Skopje, 28 September 2022 (MIA) – Private companies are obligated to be socially responsible, especially the ones in the energy sector, because they are making profit here, from the citizens of North Macedonia, says Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi.
Minister Bekteshi told Telma TV gas quantities will be secured.
“This is not a time for war profiteering. The country has regulations and laws that prescribe exactly what the Government and the Parliament can decide. Companies, especially those from the energy sector, should operate in compliance with these regulations and we should find the best solution for the citizens and the economy. This is our obligation and there will be no blackmail,” says Bekteshi.
He also explains why Bulgaria has not concluded a gas procurement agreement with Serbia.
“Bulgaria can give Serbia electricity but the issue here is quantities. Bulgaria spends billions m3 of gas and we spend around 300 million m3 per year. Serbia does not have the quantities that Bulgaria spends and this is why such an agreement has not been made. The same goes for Greece,” says Bekteshi.
