Private bus transporters reach agreement with Skopje’s JSP, all routes to operate regularly

Skopje, 2 September 2024 (MIA) - Protesting private bus transporters reached an agreement with Skopje’s Public Transport Enterprise (JSP) on Monday after they were paid 80 percent or Mden 40 million of the debt they were owed, said Oliver Petrushevski, a representative of the private transporters.

“Our colleagues are deploying from the garages so they can start driving and serving the citizens of Skopje,” Petrushevski.

Petrushevski said there are also ongoing discussions over the price of a kilometer and urged for the issue to be discussed at the next session of Skopje’s City Council.

“We expect this to be placed as an item on the agenda at the next session of the City Council. Council members will have to decide whether they accept our requests for a kilometer to be cost-effective so we can renew our bus fleet in the future and pay our drivers more, so they don’t leave,” Petrushevski said.

Asked if the protest is a part of the political struggle in the city, Petrushevski said they are not political in any way and are just trying to get their money.
