Prespa basin mayors sign memorandum of cooperation
- To foster environmental protection, sustainable development and enhance the cross-border collaboration within the trans-national Prespa region, the mayors of the four municipalities within the Prespa Basin -- Pustec, Devoll, Prespa, and Resen -- signed Friday a memorandum of cooperation and formally initiated a process for establishing a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation, MIA's Athens correspondent reports.
Athens, 29 November 2024 (MIA) — To foster environmental protection, sustainable development and enhance the cross-border collaboration within the trans-national Prespa region, the mayors of the four municipalities within the Prespa Basin -- Pustec, Devoll, Prespa, and Resen -- signed Friday a memorandum of cooperation and formally initiated a process for establishing a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation, MIA's Athens correspondent reports.
The initiative should facilitate and strengthen the cooperation between the four municipalities on environmental and cultural heritage protection as well as economic development.
EU Ambassador to North Macedonia, Michalis Rokas, attended the signing, which took place in the Municipality of Laimos in Greece.
The signing ceremony was followed by a visit to the border crossing point Markova Noga – German for an in situ presentation of the planned works for both sides of the border. mr/
