Presidential candidate question not raised at SDSM meeting, says Spasovski

Presidential candidate question not raised at SDSM meeting, says Spasovski

Skopje, 2 October 2023 (MIA) - In response to reporters' questions on SDSM's party meeting and whether there are any rifts over the party's presidential candidate, Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski said that question has not yet been opened.

"First, we discussed a number of topics and issues of state and party interest. Second, there can't be any conflict because this question has not yet been opened and discussed within the party. When that moment comes, we will talk and come to the best conclusion through dialogue," Spasovski said.

He noted that the European Front is more important to the party, i.e. the option which offers certainty to the state and the citizens.

When asked what he thinks the former SDSM leader Zoran Zaev expects, who was seen on the photo of the coordination meeting of the party's strategic team, Spasovski said that every person can make an exceptional contribution, from the most ordinary member, to a former party leader.

"Of course, unity and cohesion around a certain idea is the most important thing for success, which is why everyone is welcome in the European front for the country's progress," the Minister added.

Prime Minister and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski last week posted a photo on his Facebook profile of him alongside former prime minister and party leader, Zoran Zaev. The caption read "SDSM has many years of state and party experience, commitment and full energy to continue with victory and progress on the European path," adding that the strategic team's meeting is in that direction - doing everything to enable complete state and national consensus to fulfill the commitment of the vast majority of citizens, for the country to become a full-fledged European member by 2030.ssh/nn/
