President to officially use constitutional name, but has right to self-determination in public appearances, Siljanovska-Davkova's cabinet says

Skopje, 13 May 2024 (MIA) — Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova has the right to use the name Macedonia in her public appearances as an act of exercising her personal right to self-determination and self-identification honoring basic human rights and freedoms and according to European values and principles, her cabinet said on Monday.
President Siljanovska-Davkova, the statement said, would nonetheless adhere to the constitutional name of the country in official use.
According to the Constitution, the statement added, she had signed her oath of office using the constitutional name.
"Over the last five years, the Macedonian institutions have almost completely met their obligations from the Prespa Agreement, and the President expects all Macedonian partners to honor the bilateral and multilateral obligations they have undertaken toward the country," the statement said. mr/
