President Siljanovska-Davkova meets Vermont National Guard Adjutant General Knight

Skopje, 19 August 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met Monday with the Adjutant General of the Vermont National Guard, Major-General Gregory Knight, and the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy, Nicole Varnes, discussing the overall cooperation between the country and the Vermont National Guard as an important part of the strategic partnership with the U.S. and the continued support provided by the U.S. for the country’s Euro-Atlantic integrations and its democratic development, security and stability, the President’s Office said. 

According to her Office, President Siljanovska-Davkova expressed gratitude for the support provided for projects aimed at the Army’s modernization and equipping and highlighted the important role played by the Vermont National Guard in the efforts to meet NATO standards and the country’s accession to the Alliance. 

“President Siljanovska-Davkova welcomed the intent to further expand cooperation with the Vermont National Guard with the aim of strengthening our defense and security capacities,” the President’s Office said in a press release. 

The meeting also discussed cooperation within the NATO alliance and the situation in the broader region, in the context of the Russian aggression on Ukraine, the Office said. President Siljanovska-Davkova reaffirmed the country’s commitment to contribute to the efforts to tackle the joint threats, in line with its abilities and capacities.
