President Siljanovska Davkova receives credentials of new French Ambassador Le Rigoleur

Skopje, 29 August 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received Thursday the credentials of the new French Ambassador, Christophe Le Rigoleur.

At the handover ceremony of the credentials, which was held at Villa Biljana in Ohrid, the President said that in the three-decade history of diplomatic relations the two countries have built dynamic political ties and solid mutual cooperation in many areas, and as a result of these joint efforts, France is considered a great friend and a sincere ally on the path to EU, the President's Office said in a press release.

Siljanovska Davkova expressed gratitude for France's continued support, which has intensified in recent years, and will continue to be a significant impetus for our strong commitment to the implementation of reforms in the country.

"Our country deserves to start EU negotiations without further delays. We are prepared to do our part for the future of Europe by spreading our vision of open access to European partners, based on a commitment to friendship, broad cooperation, mutual respect, and honest approach. Therefore, we have no doubt that out French friends will unreservedly help us become part of the European family, an act that will open a new chapter in our history, bring new energy to Macedonian institutions and citizens, raise a new wave of commitment for the European idea," Siljanovska Davkova stressed.

She also highlighted the country's readiness to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, especially with the aim of intensifying economic relations.

Ambassador Le Rigoleur said that his mission is of dual importance, one is to ensure the continuity of France's support for European path and reform process, and to promote interpersonal and cultural ties that unite the two countries. In favor of strengthening bilateral relations, he stressed the importance of intensifying political exchange and implementing concrete and structural economic projects, beneficial for the entire population.

While highlighting that France will selflessly support Western Balkan countries' political process for European integration, and especially the country, Ambassador Le Rigoleur said that this European path is a joint commitment, a collective necessity, and a shared future.

"Our support is not only political, it is also practical and is increasingly strengthening with the aim of assisting the ongoing reform process. We are prepared to share our experience and expertise anywhere that would be useful,”  the Ambassador stated. ssh/ik/
