President Siljanovska Davkova meets head of WHO Office in Skopje
- President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met Tuesday with the Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Head of Country Office, Akeem Ali. According to her Office, the President was acquainted with ongoing activities, WHO's role in the country and region, their cooperation with local health institutions in order to improve the resilience of healthcare systems to deal with pandemics or health crises.
Skopje, 22 October 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met Tuesday with the Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Head of Country Office, Akeem Ali.
According to her Office, the President was acquainted with ongoing activities, WHO's role in the country and region, their cooperation with local health institutions in order to improve the resilience of healthcare systems to deal with pandemics or health crises.
"President Siljanovska Davkova stressed the importance of aligning national health policies with global health standards, as well as her support for the efforts to eliminate all regulatory, political, or social barriers in order to implement effective health programs," the press release reads.
In the interest of strengthening the country's healthcare system, prevent illnesses, and promote healthy habits, Dakova highlighted the importance of further developing strategies for raising awareness and public support for ongoing health initiatives, especially in rural or undeveloped regions.
Interlocutors expressed preparedness to continue cooperation between WHO and Macedonian institutions with the aim of supporting healthcare reform processes, strengthen early warning capacities, and country's rapid response to health emergencies. ssh/ba/
