Skopje, 28 May 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met Tuesday with the German Federal Government Special Representative for the Countries of the Western Balkans Manuel Sarrazin.
At the meeting, discussions focused on bilateral relations between the two countries, the process of Macedonian European integration, and the current situations in the Western Balkans region from the standpoint of European perspectives.
President Siljanovska Davkova welcomed the intensive political dialogue with Germany, as one of our closest allies and partners, and expressed full readiness for further successful cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
"The President expressed appreciation for the principled and vocal support of the German authorities for Macedonian Euro-integration, for the Resolution of the German Bundestag, and their comprehensive engagement through the Berlin Process. She voiced expectations for further support, emphasizing that the enlargement of the Union is in the interest of the political, security, and economic stability of the entire region," President Siljanovska Davkova's office said in a press release.
She emphasized awareness of the obligations stemming from international agreements and stressed that 'we place great importance on maintaining good neighborly relations,' while simultaneously underlining citizens' expectations that the Euro-integrative process will be evaluated fairly, based on the Copenhagen criteria.
