President Siljanovska Davkova meets EEAS Deputy Managing Director Makovec

Skopje, 13 June 2024 (MIA) - Ahead of Thursday's Summit of heads of state and government of the participants in the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with the Director for the Western Balkans at the European External Action Service (EEAS), Marko Makovec.
Interlocutors exchanged opinions on the country's European integration process, perspectives, and further accession steps, the President's Cabinet said in a press release.
President Siljanovska Davkova emphasized the need to accelerate and advance the EU integration process, which is also of crucial importance for the overall stability and prosperity of the wider region.
She added that in order to maintain the credibility of EU enlargement process, it is necessary to respect the meritorious process of integration, and that the fulfillment of the Copenhagen criteria must not be hindered by bilateral issues and political moves of certain EU member states.
The President also said that Macedonian state institutions in the future will make maximum efforts in implementing reforms, and that she will insist on a political and social consensus regarding the reform agenda, and adoption of laws with the use of 'EU flag' procedure. ssh/ik/
